PPS successfully completed 2020 annual shutdown maintenance for FPSO Ruby II and FPSO PTSC Lam Son

PPS successfully completed the annual shutdown maintenance (ASD) for FPSO Ruby II and FPSO PTSC Lam Son in Sept 2020, achieved the expected progress. This was the first time PPS has to conduct ASD for three units at the same time, FPSO Ruby II, FSO PTSC Bien Dong 01 and FPSO PTSC Lam Son.

 

Despite of this unfavorable period due to the continuing complicated situation of Covid-19 epidemic challenged to procurement of materials, equipment and personnel mobilization, more than 100 activities have been done within 71 hours (from 09 – 12 Sept 2020) during ASD for FPSO Ruby II and 27 activities for FPSO PTSC Lam Son have been done from 16 – 18 Sept 2020 (19.5 hours ahead of schedule).

In order to complete a large workload in a short time while facing many difficulties and challenges, PPS had put all resources, optimized and divided tasks performed during shutdown and system online time thus significantly reduced the workload and contributed to the speed-up of the FPSO re-startup. In addition, the work was organized in 3 shifts, additional accommodation was arranged on supply boat to solve the POB issue on FPSO Ruby II (175 pax were required due to simultaneously performance of ASD and RLE work while the number of personnel allowable on board Ruby II at only 135). Many new initiatives have been proposed and applied during the ASD to solve difficult and arising items. In particular, PPS Workshop has engineered, manufactured the special tool and successful replaced the torque arm bearings of the Turret Swivel system, a difficult work deployed but not yet completed in 2019.
